Building Families Through The Miracle Of Adoption

Time to come home!

Update on Gabby: She is doing OK. Still sick feeling as her stomach is raw! Poor baby girl. Her PCV levels are GREAT which indicated her AIHA is not he issue *thank God* OH, I pray she is home soon! I am worried sick about her and Jason is too! We want both of our girls HOME!

Our trip to the downtown area was most eventful. Mer & Nanny were ready to kill me when I had the taxi let us out FAR from our first stop AND it was pouring down rain! We had lunch/early dinner at a fabulous little restaurant we have grown to LOVE and then the shopping began...we made it to ONE store and after an hour there, we had to get a taxi back because the packages were over-flowing! That is where ALL of the excitement began! We had two taxi drivers yelling to us as we were leaving the street corner store...as Mer would say, "why cross the street when you don't have to" because it is like playing dodge ball! SO, we took the taxi on the side of the street we were already walking on...BAD MISTAKE! The other taxi driver proceeded to come over and start an altercation with our driver. I was laughing so hard in the back seat and taking photos! Mer had a look on her face like, "is this for real" and Nanny was yelling "get your skinny butt out of the road and LET'S GO!" It was just like a scene from a bad movie! We sat there for at least 15 minutes with ALL of our packages *half of them in the trunk* and waited to see what was going to happen...and more did happen. Next, 3 or 4 other men come over and they all yell back and forth...Nanny is still yelling at them *as if they had ANY idea what she was yelling* Mer & I laughed so hard!!! So, Nanny said, forget this...she took the key out of the ignition and we opened the trunk, retrieved our goodies and walked across the street to another taxi (oh, did I mention the one guy stood in front of the taxi like a bull...Mer said his nostriles were flarring out..LOL)

It was an experience. We are back safe and sound...FINALLY.

The girls were EXHAUSTED and so were we (photos tells it all).

Our SOS clinic appts are tomorrow at 1pm then we submit our paperwork to the Embassy! Hopefully we will get a QUICK appt. and turn-around and be on a plane to America in the next few days!
Sherry, what all should we expect at the SOS visit??
More from Vietnam tomorrow! Nanny is set to fly home tomorrow night, Mer & I are trying to find a way to keep her!!! Halle-Grace decided if Nanny is leaving, she is too. She was packing her bags tonight as well (as you can see). Jason you better get all of the cabinet locks ready!
God Bless you all!!! We can't wait to see you in NC!

O.K the Taxi story is Hilarious. I'm glad ya'll had Wanda, and the Pictures are Classic. I'm still laughing.

Best of Luck at the clinic appt. tomorrow. I know Halle-Grace is going to do just fine as we all know she is PERFECT!!!!

Tell Wanda I will keep her in my prayers as she begins to fly. You know that Halle-Grace is smart to start packing. She knows that Wanda is a good thing and she's sticking with her (LOL).

Glad Gabby's levels are good. Keep us updated!!!!

Glad you took pictures, that will make the story even better when you tell it.
Gabby is gonna be OK, and all of you will be together next week.
Wanda, hope your trip home will be uneventful as you sit and think about our precious grand-daughter.
Can not wait to be a part of her life.

Hannah is thinking of the Halloween costume! She wanted to pick her one up at the store the other day, but I told her you and Halle-Grace needed to pick her first Halloween costume out, or Nanny. You know Nanny always takes care of her babies!! So glad Gabby is doing better. Tell moma we are praying for her safe return. I know it will be hard for her to leave you all. I'm glad you got through the taxi episode okay. I would have been so nervous. You know me. (LOL)
WE LOVE YOU!!

I was laughing so hard reading about the Taxi. I can just hear that fast, angry Vietnamese and then your mom taking the keys!!! Too funny. :) Mom's been reading the blog too. She is so excited about your approval! At the SOS clinic, they are going to measure and weigh the girls. Then they are going to do a checkup. The dr. listened to Kaitlyn's heart/breathing, felt of her tummy, looked at eyes, mouth nothing out of the ordinary. Then he checked a couple of things such as could she hold her head up if placed on her tummy...remember that she was only 3.5 months old. He did a couple other tests like that to check development levels. That was it. It took about 15 to 20 minutes once we were seen.

Find a way to keep Nanny in Vietnam. You are going to need help getting Halle-Grace and all of this luggage home. It is a very long flight and you really don't want to do this by yourself if you have a choice. If Nanny has to get back to job, then you'll find a way to it. Can't wait to hear more tomorrow.

Sherry :)
