Holy Moly! I am the most horrific blogger alive! Poor Miss Magic! Well, poor mommy! lol! Listen, this FOUR YEAR OLD keeps me hopping! She is the SOCIAL butterfly and we stay on the go at all times! Since last post...so much has happened in the life of HG! She was a flower girl in Ashley's wedding and she LOVED every minute of being the "bride" for the day!

Halle-Grace also celebrated her 4th birthday with her friends & family...I will post the photographers photos as soon I have a free minute (check back in 2 months...haha) seriously, I will do better in 2012. This year has been SO SO busy! Here are some pics from her 4 year old bash! Until next entry, remain blessed!

SHE IS PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!
She is funny, laughs A LOT! Is a complete SHOW OFF in the restaurant and wants ALL eyes on her! I have no idea where she got the idea of "being a ham"....no comments! LOL!
She found the mirror and loves it! She sleeps just like her mom....all over the bed! She also found Vietnamese cartoons on TV and yelled at them forever!!! Everyone loves on her when we are out! They all say "BIG EYES"! She is just amazing!!! I can't begin to describe... God has revealed HIS perfect plan! She is OUR DAUGHTER and He has always known exactly when, where & how he would bring us together!

Hours Away...

Wow, what a night...Who would have thought Shannon would have slept so well and I was the one up all night. So many things even within the wee hours of the morning have transpired. We even just got off the phone with Michelle Bond from State Department who wished us well and congratulated us on our tiny miracle.She said she feels we have done everything we could have done to answer the RFEs. I took from that it is simply now a matter of time to get our approvals.
There are so many things I want to say that I will keep this brief and add when we return this evening. Currently I am afraid of shorting out the computer as I type a few words and then dry my eyes, type a few words and wipe my nose.
We are going to get our daughter...even now, saying and typing the words seems surreal. It has been way too long in coming. But nothing worth having comes easy, and nothing in this world is worth more than "our tiny miracle." I pray I will bless her in her life half as much as she has already blessed me...and I have yet to hear her for the first time say, "I love you daddy!" Wow, talk about melting a heart. It is already a molten pile of goo...
More to come later today. For now, thanks for the emails, thoughts and prayers. God bless you all. We love you!

I am the worst blogger ever lately!!! We have been going NON-STOP since the summer started. Working, traveling, working some more, traveling some more...you get the picture! I feel horrible that I have not posted in almost two months! Since last post, we have been to Chicago for the 2011 Mrs. International Pageant, Halle-Grace's social calendar is too complicated to even post...we have been to Nanny's beach house, and countless other places...to include our new home away from home :)
These photos were taken over the 4th of July at Nanny's beach house & during the Southport Parade where Miss Magic was estatic to see Hailey Best, Miss NC...who she calls her "Miss-a, Miss-a, Miss-a AMERICA"! Too cute for words. I will post more photos soon...again sorry for my lack in keeping the blog up! HG is cuter than ever, still sprinking her magic dust wherever she goes, a social butterfly, loves to swim, play pretend, boss everyone around (haha), and she LOVES to sing and dance. She's even making up her own songs now! lol....until next post, BE BLESSED!

THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE!!! Miss Magic LOVES the pool!
HG completed 2 rounds of swimming lessons and LOVES the pool more than ever before.

HG took her first photo with my iPhone. Her expression is priceless...she is seriously concentrating, and my expression says, "please don't drop mommy's phone"

Participated in her preschool graduation (she didn't graduate) just performed! Her favorite thing to do!

TOMORROW night is her 2nd dance recital. She performs 3 times and her 3rd # is by far my favorite! She is not only magical, she is incredibly talented at 3 1/2!

...and SO much more! As she continues to grow, her social calendar continues to FILL UP! I honestly can't keep up with Miss Magic's popularity!

Since last post, Hunter and uncle Mike celebrated birthdays, aunt Suzie turned the BIG 40!!! Jason celebrated a birthday...and so much more! I promise to keep up better with the blog. HG keeps me hopping!

Being called "mommy" is the best sound in the world! Halle-Grace and I had a great Mother's Day together! We were able to spend time with Nanny, Kay Kay, and Aunt Suzie! BLESSED is the word that sums up my Mother's Day! Here are just a few photos from yesterday. Halle-Grace is doing fantastic! She has fully recovered from her surgery. Her pathology reports were CLEAN and life is busy as ever. She loves pre-school and is smart as a whip! She loves her friends, has the cutest southern accent (ha) and never meets a stranger! She loves to dance, sing, talk (a lot), play barbies, dress up, and she has a new bicycle...more photos and updates coming soon. She continues to bless my life in more ways that I ever imagined! Miss Magic had surgery today and she is doing well, recovering and stealing the hearts of everyone...the doctors, nurses...
She was SO brave, never cried, complained...the perfect patients! Thanks to everyone who came to the hospital and for everyone who was praying for Miss Magic! Mrs. Mandy took very special care of her. She gave her a very special surgical hat with pink polka dots and lady bugs!

Halle-Grace, you are loved by so many...one day, when you can fully understand...it will blow you away! My angel is resting well tonight, thank you Lord for watching over her! Please continue to pray for a quick recovery!

Hannah is crowned Tiny Miss West Lincoln

And...the tradition continues! On Saturday, my nieces, Hannah, Lizzy & Zoey competed in their first pageant! Hannah approached me in January and told me she would like to enter. Lizzy and Zoey were on board within a few days as well :) I allowed the girls to select their own dresses and made them promise to make a commitment to prepare, practice, and above all...have a GREAT attitude about the day, regardless of the outcome! Of course, I think they are absolutely adorable, beautiful, and they are WINNERS...not only in pageantry but in LIFE! I seriously was blown away by their performances on Saturday! They were little PROS and each one had a fantastic time! I enjoyed every step of the journey and loved getting them prepared before and on pageant day!

After 3 VERY LONG years, Saigon Skye (also known as Phan) is FINALLY home with her forever family! What a testimony! God has a way of knowing when people belong together! NEVER give up on your dreams of building your family! Saigon Skye and her forever family left Vietnam last night!
Jodi (her mother) was the first American (TQ family) I met in Vietnam back in August, 2008. She and her husband were so gracious to send Jason & I photos and even a video of Little Miss Magic.
Phan has been on my mind and heart all of this time! Words cannot express how estatic I am knowing she is FINALLY with her forever family! Tears of JOY are rolling :)

Little Angel Performance

Tomorrow night Halle-Grace's "Little Angel" choir will be singing at church...however, Little Miss Magic will not be able to attend. She has been under the weather :( She went to the doctor on Friday as soon as I noticed the first cough that didn't sound quite right. Dr. Patti gave her a lot of TLC, stickers, and some medication to make all of the yucky go away. She has ran a fever all day and we have enjoyed hanging around the house and watching movies. I thank God that Halle-Grace is a healthy little girl. Colds, flu bugs, croup, etc are expected along the way, but overall she is a healthy girl and I thank God every day for the gift of health!

Just look at how she has grown! Still can't believe she's 3 years old and a WHOPPING 23 lbs! haha!

Halle-Grace LOVED Santa!!! She talked to him for a LONG time. I overheard her say something about Mary Poppins and she showed him her earrings and checked out his ears and his nose and commented on the size...children say the funniest things!!! She visited with Santa immediately after her dance performance.

Her entire dance studio at Step-N-Out danced for Santa's arrival. Halle-Grace started dancing before the music started and she LOVES a crowd! Such a show off, simply adorable and a complete HAM!

What a busy few days we have had. Busy, yet SO blessed! We attended the National Council For Adoption's 30th Anniversary Bow Tie & Pearls Gala in Washington, DC to celebrate the miracle of Adoption.

We celebrated Miss Magic's 3rd birthday and presented her with pearl earrings from the Gala's Chairman

My mama has had ONE MORE WEEK to say the least! Poor thing!!! She had major back surgery on Monday and she is still in the hospital (today is Saturday). She's experienced some complications here and there along the way but I am so happy this morning she is doing much better. Suzanne, Gene & I have been taking care of her during her stay and she has been a pretty good patient. She has done so many things that remind me of Mamaw Parker :) Funny, yet sweet memories...
Because of all of the excitement, I have not had time to blog. If it's not attached to my blackberry, it doesn't get done during times like this.

Halle-Grace had a GREAT week packed with fun! This week at pre-school she had a trunk or trick day, a pumpkin party, her birthday outfit arrived and other items that I purchased (thanks to Mer and my etsy obsesssion!!!!!) And, she received the most AMAZING crayons from Lulu! I will post a picture soon. The crayons are in the shape of yummy cupcakes and even a set that spells her name...TOO COOL! Thanks M & lulu! We love you guys!!!

It is incredibly hard to believe that we are planning birthday party #3!!! Where has the time gone? Halle-Grace is the most amazing little girl in the world! She is the funniest, most intelligent little miracle! She LOVES music and her latest thing is SINGING very loud! She will sing for anyone and doesn't have a shy bone in her body! Her favorite movies include...of course Wizard of Oz, Monsters Inc. She LOVES Annie and Mary Poppins. Jason & Miss Magic went to see the live performance of both Annie & Mary Poppins in Charlotte just a few weeks ago.

Sooooo, the theme for Birthday Party #3....Mary Poppins! HG is thrilled! Here's a sneak peak at her party invitation...of course, it's a sample but I was very pleased by the artwork of Lynnette on etsy.com. She is making more party goodies...I will post a link so you can all check out her fabulous artwork. Jason's description of yesterday's fun festivities is right on target....ENJOY!

What an absolute wonderful day yesterday was-despite the fact that Shannon and I both forgot how COLD the top of the mountain could be...

We took HalleGrace and Hannah to ‘The Land of Oz,’ in Banner Elk. Each year, for only one weekend, The Land of Oz is open to the public. The Land of Oz is complete with characters, memorabilia, a museum and stage performances…and, at least on the day we went, overcast misty skies, blustery winds and freezing temperatures. That being said, it would have taken a true Kansas tornado included to dampen HG’s and Hannah’s enthusiasm while we were there. We took the open-aired hayride to the top of Banner Elk yesterday and even though temps were barely in the 40s, I could feel Halle Grace shivering, neither she, nor Hannah ever complained. And once in the theme park you would have thought it was 75 degrees and sunny.

HG and Hannah both enjoyed meeting and having their pictures taken with the characters. HG even enjoyed having one taken with the wicked witch of the west, even though she cautiously kept her eyes on her the whole time…trust but verify...And if that wasn’t enough excitement for the day we met the Quigleys in Boone for ice cream afterwards. The Quigleys by the way are another family that adopted from Vietnam. Mickey, sister Maggie and mom Mary met us for a quick reunion before we came home. The kids surely hit it off, sharing smiles, hugs, kisses, and even rolling around on the floor together (usually something we would not allow in a public setting...but as cold as it was, NO one else was eating ice cream and they were having quite the reunion. haha)

Mickey and Halle Grace exchanged so much affection with each other that I might be inclined to predict a future for the two, but poor Mickey, he has plenty of other would-be-suitors to contend with for Little Miss Magic has em already lined up. As I have said before, her nickname is ever-so-fitting for, no matter where we go, she seems to cast her magical spell on everyone. I mean, if the kid can get the Wicked Witch of the West to smile like a Wal Mart greeter then should we really expect less anywhere else!?!

If my meager attempt to describe the fun HG had falls short just keep this in mind. As we left Boone yesterday afternoon HG feel asleep in the car at 4:00 PM. As of this morning as I sit typing this at 6:20 A.M. Halle Grace is STILL asleep!!! She has yet to wake up from her weekend adventure! What a great weekend. But don’t take my word for it. I recently had someone ask me a few questions about adoption and helping children in need.

"What do you feel are the top 5 things to consider/know when adopting?"

Speaking from experience...
1) The world of adoption changes frequently, it's critical to remain up-to-date on recent developments
2) Adoption is a Journey, not a process. Every adoption is different...if you are adopting from the same country as someone else, or adopting domestically in the same state, EVERY adoption is different.
3) It's a MUST that you work with an accredited agency! Prospective Adoptive Parents should be educated on the steps of adoption so they are not over-whelmed! What is a homestudy and how long are they valid? How long are fingerprints valid? What is a Dossier and how do you begin compiling one?
4) Find a mentor, a support group! You cannot walk this journey alone! It is not always an easy road, however, the JOY is worth every mile! I couldn't have made it without the HOT HENS!
5) What are my options (foster to adopt, domestic, private, open, closed, international) What are the pros and cons?
6) Costs? How will I fund an adoption? There are many resources and grants available to prospective adoptive parents AND the tax credit the federal government allows per adoption is over $13,000.
7)How do I educate my family/extended family (my article in Best Ever You Magazine is a great example if you haven't read it just yet)

All of the above can seem overwhelming, that's why I believe NCFA is a powerful organization. You can be confidenet the the agencies under their umbrella are legit and they work with the entire picture of adoption....the children, the birth parents, the adoptive parents and pregnant women who realize that adoption is the best gift they can give to their unborn child. They say that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. They say it is a magical fantastical place where dreams come to life. They say it is a place where you can experience the most wondrous events and build memories that will last a lifetime. Well, I have to say, there is truth in that advertising!

We took Miss Magic to Disneyland and Oh what an experience it was. She was the embodiment of non-stop exhilaration from the moment we first entered and saw Goopy right up until she started to fall asleep on Jason’s shoulders on the way out of the park. Halle Grace was as excited as a thousand children on Christmas Eve and as animated as Mickey himself in his most magnificent cartoons. For Halle Grace, Disneyland was one thrilling moment after another. In fact it seemed that with each character we saw; Goopy, Mickey House, Minnie, Cinawella (these are not typos but rather her actual pronouncements of their names) the enchantment only intensified. Her smile was from ear to ear and her unbridled excitement was so electrifying that you couldn’t help but become energized by it.

I honestly believe that if she even TRIED to squeeze one more ounce of fun out of Disneyland the authorities would have stopped her, telling her to save some magical fun for other children. It was simply amazing and I was emotional at times watching her experience the TRUE magic of Disney.

Halle-Grace has a funny story about Belle that we will never forget!

It also was just as amazing to see her timing be so impeccable. She obviously wanted to see Mickey House and Minnie while we were there as well as some of the princesses. She told anyone that would listen to her in the days prior, that she was going to see all of these characters. My hope was that she would in fact get to see at least a couple of those she mentioned by name. My only hesitation was that on any given day some of the characters might be in one place when you are in another, or they might not even make an appearance that day. So my fingers were crossed that she would at least see one princess and either Mickey or Minnie.
Such pessimistic thoughts... For as soon as we walked in we spotted Pluto...

Almost immediately thereafter we came across not one, not two, not three...but many princesses all together.

According to Halle Grace they were all Cinawella…even the ones with dark hair. It was then that Halle-Grace’s true level of excitement was evident. When we approached Cinderella and put her down, she almost bowled Cinderella over as she ran up to, and almost over, her.

Cinderella had to catch herself with her hand or risk being toppled over by a bundle of pure joy and energy!!!

After leaving these princesses we simply “stumbled” upon Mickey House leaving only Minnie still to be seen.

By this time Mom and Dad needed a break and some lunch so we told HG we would try and find Minnie after we grabbed a quick bite. We grabbed something quick and began our search for Minnie all too aware that our time to return was soon approaching. However, we must have forgotten that our daughter’s nickname is “Miss Magic” for no sooner than we had walked back into Toonland we saw Minnie walking straight for us. We walked right up and got a couple of pics of them together and headed for the souvenir shop then to our ride.

While in the shop Halle-Grace said she had wanted to tell Minnie bye. We tried to console her and told her Minnie had to rest and visit with all of the children who were there to meet her and that she did get to have her picture taken with her. Glancing at our watches we realized we were already five minutes late for our ride. We finished in the shop and headed out when who did we see standing right in front of the shop….Minnie Mouse! Halle-Grace got to tell her bye after all. Jason scooped her up and placed her on his shoulders and headed for the gate. We didn’t even make it out of the park before she was fast asleep. She only woke up momentarily to flirt with Hunter Brunett (Dedria’s little brother) in the car before finally crashing for the evening. She was so exhausted she slept clear through pageant finals until the next morning not even waking while we removed her clothes and placed her pjs on her. What a MAGICAL day!

Obviously we had a blast and we would be completely remiss if we did not thank specifically Eddie for being such a wonderful host and coordinating our visit and for the Brunett family for graciously chauffeuring us to and from Disneyland. We are incredibly grateful to you all. Thank you very much for allowing us to spend a magical day with our daughter

Aug 31, 2008 Hours Away...

Wow, what a night...Who would have thought Shannon would have slept so well and I was the one up all night. So many things even within the wee hours of the morning have transpired. We even just got off the phone with Michelle Bond from State Department who wished us well and congratulated us on our tiny miracle.She said she feels we have done everything we could have done to answer the RFEs. I took from that it is simply now a matter of time to get our approvals.
There are so many things I want to say that I will keep this brief and add when we return this evening. Currently I am afraid of shorting out the computer as I type a few words and then dry my eyes, type a few words and wipe my nose. We are going to get our daughter...even now, saying and typing the words seems surreal. It has been way too long in coming. But nothing worth having comes easy, and nothing in this world is worth more than "our tiny miracle." I pray I will bless her in her life half as much as she has already blessed me...and I have yet to hear her for the first time say, "I love you daddy!" Wow, talk about melting a heart. It is already a molten pile of goo...More to come later today. For now, thanks for the emails, thoughts and prayers. God bless you all. We love you!

We made it! We made the first BOO BOO! DO NOT RIDE IN A TAXI that is not listed as one!!! LOL. We have NO idea who brought us across town last night! We are safe but and are laughing about it now. It is pouring rain, we are hungry...going to eat breakfast...going apartment hunting (they may be closed until Wed.) so Halle-Grace will maybe get to help us pick out a place. Same Event Different Perspectives

This evening we took a trip to the toy aisle so Halle-Grace could pick out her very own “grocery store” set. This set includes a grocery cart full of food, the coolest cash register and twin baby girls that she has named Jessie & Ruby. After being home for a couple of hours…HG just now came up for air from her shopping spree. She has been everything from stocker to shopper to cashier. I think she has the most fun as a combination shopper/cashier…oh the discounts you get when you shop that way! Jason finds it funny that the same event is seen very differently from each of our perspectives. Same register, same activity, just a little different interpretation depending on whose eyes are viewing it.

Halle-Grace's view: Wow, this is AWESOME! I am having a blast. Not exactly sure what this loud beeping sound means when I press this little wand and hold it down but I really like it. Not only is it fun for me but both Mom and Dad enjoy it as well as they both put their hands over their ears when I hold it down non-stop for several minutes at a time. I think that must cause this high pitch beeeeeeeeeeeeeep to echo in their ears. They really seem to like it. They also love picking up all of these tiny items and they’re so nice to put them back into my shopping cart over & over again…

Jason's view: I know this is a game for her but it is really helpful as she is already learning proper manners while she plays. When she is the cashier she is asking her customer how she is, and saying thank you while checking her out. I am sure this is developing her imagination skills and creating neurons in her brain as we speak. She is even counting out the dollars correctly thereby reinforcing her counting skills. When she is the stocker she is reinforcing good work ethic and pride in task. I can see how much passion she has in placing the items in just the right spot on the shelves. Good choice for a toy/game.

Shannon's view: I wonder how long before she can actually do our shopping at Wal-Mart for real?? Anyone who knows me well, knows I do not enjoy trips to Wal-Mart...but how cool, Miss Magic LOVES to shop and she obviously prefers a credit card over cash!!! Her daddy loves her so much, how will he ever be able to tell us NO when it comes to future shopping sprees!!! Go HALLE-GRACE!!! I love this game/toy as well. GREAT choice!

I cannot believe how much Miss Magic is growing. It seems like just yesterday that we were in Vietnam with 6-9 month clothes (mostly 9 month) when our tiny miracle needed 3-6 month clothing! Now, she is talking in complete sentences and knows exactly what she wants in her everyday life! I think she's going to be a plastic surgeon because she loves to put bandaids all over her arms and legs (even though there are no boo boos in sight) and she LOVES makeup, painting nails/toes, and tells me she looks gorgeous! She also knows and expresses which shoes, clothes and bows are pretty and so on...she is a Fashionista at 2 1/2!!!

This week she attended Bible School. The theme was "Saddle Ridge Ranch" and she loved every minute of it. She was so excited to attend each night. Friday night all of the children put on their cowboy boots and hats and put on a show for their parents/grandparents.

The International Adoption Simplification Act (S1376) passed the Senate last week and is awaiting introduction and passage in the House of Representatives. The legislation provides two very important technical fixes to the intercountry adoption process that are a result of the implementation of the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption, namely allowing adoptive parents the option of obtaining immunizations for their children after they enter the U.S. (which is standard procedure in non-Hague adoptions) and also allowing adoptive siblings over the age of 16 to be adopted. It is this latter provision that is impacting so many children who have been prevented from joining their adoptive families and siblings because of their age.

WOW! We have been so busy lately...well, really all summer long and Halle-Grace loves every minute of it. She is such a social bug! She is SO much fun! Her new thing is "lyrical dance". You truly have to see it to believe it!!! Her song of choice is "Faithfully" by Journey (haha) and she dances the entire song...each time she adds a little more choreography! I cannot believe my baby girl is 2 1/2!!!
So, what is Miss Magic up to these days.....If you ask her how old she is, she replies, "2 and a half"...she no longer says two! Miss Magic continues to sprinkle her magic dust everywhere she goes. She is SO friendly and talks to everyone! Her preschool has ended for the summer and her very 1st dance recital is coming up in 2 weeks! I'm so excited to watch her "show out".

Halle-Grace is such a smart little girl! She knows her ABCs, she can count, knows all of her colors, shapes (to include hearts, stars) and she can draw a smiley face and a heart and writes some numbers! She still loves art! We play dress up a lot and she LOVES to have a fashion show followed by a tea party. Yes, my long legs sit at the tiny princess table (one day the chair is going to break).
She & her dad love to go outside. She's his assistant "pool keeper" and helps him check the levels in the pool...she loves to swim AND YES, she ran a mile! We decided to take a little walk around our neighborhood and she insisted on running the ENTIRE mile! She's quite impressive...quite Magical!

Determination...What it takes to be an Elephant Mom

Thanks to "Best Ever You" Magazine, I had the opportunity to team up with another "elephant mom" aka Katie Eastman who lives in Maine and write about our journeys to our beautiful daughters. Katie and I had so much fun getting to know one another and sharing our stories. I found out very quickly that it is STILL very therapeutic to share about the the "journey" with others who have traveled a similar one.

To experience "the wait" alone would be devastating! I am so blessed that I found my adoption support group! If you're a frequent reader of this blog, you probably remember "The Hot Hens". I thank God for my Hens! I miss them all (hey hens, are we going to Sesame Place anytime soon? Disney will work too.....)

Reflection...Mother's Day

I have tried unsuccessfully (at least to this point) to upload my Mother's Day card! It is the sweetest thing I have ever heard! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get this task accomplished! I have listened to the card at least 100 times! I had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day! I was able to spend the day with my amazing mom and entire family. Halle-Grace told me what my gifts were before she was suppose to...HAHA! How cute is she??!!! Jason had to laugh about her "telling" as well. She's so much fun!
On Mother's Day again this year, I couldn't help but think about a very special lady...somewhere in the world...the woman who gave birth to Halle-Grace. As Halle-Grace gets older and begins to fully understand, I want her to know how much her birth mother loved her. There are times when people will say, "why, how could she, that's terrible" and I always reply, "thank God she did, otherwise I wouldn't be Halle-Grace's mother". Jason & I made the trip to Tuyen Quang, Vietnam on September 1, 2008 and spent hours that day in Halle-Grace's orphanage (her home for the first 9 months of her life). To be completely honest, before making the trip to Vietnam there were times that I also wondered......I can tell you that during the 4 hour drive from Hanoi to TQ (where there are no roads, seriously, the people have NOTHING)...it all made complete sense! I know that her birth mother/family wanted Halle-Grace to have the BEST life possible! If you ask me, placing HG up for adoption has to be the greatest act of love... unconditional love, unselfish love!

Blessed and thankful for the MIRACLE of adoption!

Two years of blogging...

It's hard to believe I started blogging here two years ago on Mother's Day! I wanted to be a mom for such a long time! You see my journey to motherhood was NOT easy but 99.9% of the time the things you want, love and cherish the most...don't come easy! God was preparing me for Halle-Grace and the moment she was placed in my arms in TQ, Vietnam...ALL of the pain, questions, doubt, fear, guilt was suddenly GONE!

God used "life" to fully prepare me for the journey to becoming Miss Magic's mother. Sometimes I sit and wonder, why did HE choose me? Halle-Grace is such an amazing little girl! She's simply the BEST! She is smart, beautiful, friendly, funny...and has a way of "lighting" up a room the moment she enters it! God knew the struggle for Halle-Grace and the other 44 TQ children...He knew he would place me on the other side of the world, in a 3rd world country, waiting on her visa and rallying for the other children who needed a voice! I look back now and I am thankful I had the time to spend in her birth country learning about her beautiful culture. WOW, thank you Lord! I am her mom and that just blows me away! What a blessing! She's my perfect miracle!

I found the neatest little on-line shopping place. http://www.adoptshoppe.com/ If you know someone who's adopting and want to find a special gift for their special new one...you may want to shop around. One thing in particular that I especially love are the "adoption baby books". Speaking from experience, these are not easy to find and most stores where you purchase baby books do not have "adoption" baby books. There's tons of other "neat" finds on the site as well.

Below is a poem I received from an adopted child who is now married and is truly making a difference in life. A huge advocate herself, she is fighting for a cure for cancer. If anyone can find a cure, Cydney has the determination and is constantly at work!
She wrote to me, "I love visiting your page and reading about your journey and your daughter. I am adopted and it is so special to me to view the experience through a mother's eyes. So, although we haven't met in person, I feel like I already know you...I'm grateful for you and the voice you give to the little girls who treasure mom's like you."

The 2 1/2 year old scene

What's Miss Magic up to at 2 1/2? Halle-Grace's favorite word is "mine"! Everything belongs to her...in her sweet mind anyway! She is a complete HAM these days...more so than ever before. She has something new to amaze us with daily! SHE LOVES FLIP FLOPS! Poor thing will wear them til her toes have blisters! She has not a care in the world as long as she has her flip flops on and is "on the move". She is a complete "social butterfly"! She loves her friends, loves to learn, and loves to sing (Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Itzy Bitzy Spider, Jesus Loves Me, Happy Birthday..and more). A chorus teacher recently told us (after Miss Magic sang Happy Birthday to her son about a dozen times in a restaurant) "she can sing, she holds the pitch, etc". Well, of course, I think she can sing...but you all know her dad...haha....he has told everyone! He is so wrapped, it's really precious to see the two of them together! She is for sure A DADDY'S GIRL!
She is going to the potty very well. She loves taking dance/gymnastics and is quite the performer! I'm getting really excited about her dance recital in June. I'm sure she'll add some of her own special choreography :) She LOVES to play outside! She is incredibly friendly and outgoing...and SMART! Her vocabulary really surprises me (especially when you consider she didn't hear English until she was 9 1/2 months old)! She talks all the time (where does she get that?!) She knows all of her colors, her ABCs, can identify letter and numbers...and more! Above all, she is truly magical and the most precious gift we have ever received.We are incredibly blessed! I thank God for bringing us together as a forever family!!!
